Application of carbon monoxide catalyst in fire masks

Fire gas mask is a kind of protective equipment used to prevent toxic and harmful gases from causing injury to the person. In a fire, the generation of smoke and toxic gases is inevitable, and the fire gas mask can effectively filter out the toxic substances in the air through filtration and adsorption, providing valuable time and space for escape and rescue. The filter layer is the key component of the fire mask. Carbon monoxide catalysts are widely used in the filter layer of fireproof masks to convert the CO of the inhalation mask into COthrough catalytic action, thus protecting the respiratory health of the wearer.

The inside of the filter tank of the fire mask usually has three layers: the desiccant layer, the catalyst layer (Hogalat agent layer), and the smoke filter film. The catalyst layer is the carbon monoxide catalyst layer, and the Hogalat agent (made of active manganese dioxide and copper oxide in a certain proportion) is one of the commonly used catalysts. A desiccant layer is arranged in front of the catalyst layer to absorb water vapor in the air and prevent the catalyst from failing due to moisture. The smoke filter membrane is the last line of defense, which can effectively filter more than 99% of the smoke and small particles.

When we use and wear a fire mask, we should first confirm whether the air tightness of the mask is good. Then, screw the canister tightly to the interface of the mask to ensure that there is no air leakage at the connection. After wearing the mask, adjust the tightness of the headband to ensure that the mask does not shake. During wearing, do not touch the inner surface of the mask with your hands to avoid contamination.
